E-Verify Designated Agent / Employer Agent

E-Verify is a web-based system allowing employers and Federal Contractors to determine the employment eligibility of employee’s right to work in the United States.

PreHire Screening Services is a federally approved Designated Agent of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Social Security Administration (SSA) for E-Verify, Form I-9 Employment (Right To Work) Verifications.

For most employers, the use of E-Verify is voluntary and can only be used to determine the employment eligibility of new hires. However, as of September 8, 2009, employers with federal contracts or subcontracts that contain the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) E-Verify clause are required to use E-Verify to determine the employment eligibility of employees performing direct, substantial work under federal contracts and all new hires, including employees not working on a federal contract.

Federal contractors or subcontractors who have a contract with the (FAR) E-Verify clause also have the option to verify the their entire workforce, including all existing employees.

There is no charge for employers to use E-Verify. However, many companies choose to use a designated agent such as PreHire Screening Services to perform the E-Verify verifications for a small fee.

Why Use E-Verify?
Protect your business from costly fines by verifying that all new hires are who they say they are and by verifying that they have the right to work in the United States. With the dramatic increase in fraudulent social security cards and other documents, simply making a copy of a new hire’s documents isn’t good enough.

The Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA) legally mandates that U.S. employers verify the employment eligibility status of newly-hired employees and makes it unlawful for employers to knowingly hire or continue to employ unauthorized workers.

Company Risk
Employers who employ undocumented workers run the risk of fines and possible lawsuits. This is especially applicable to employers who have a high number of seasonal and/or temporary employees and employers who reside in the states that have a high concentration of immigrants.

Employee screening for immigration status using E-Verify shows due diligence in preventing the ramifications of employing an illegal resident.

PreHire’s E-Verify Employment Eligibility Verification
Using the specific information contained on the Form I-9, we electronically verify the accuracy of Social Security Numbers, Immigration “A” numbers, and I-94 arrival/departure numbers and provide a DHS-issued unique verification number, which should be attached to the employee’s original Form I-9. Our employment eligibility verification services are secure, quick, easy-to-use, and most importantly, they are accurate.
