E-Verify for Employers and Federal Contractors |
||||
E-Verify is a web-based system allowing employers and Federal Contractors to determine the employment eligibility of employee's right to work in the United States. PreHire Screening Services is a federally approved Designated Agent of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Social Security Administration (SSA) for E-Verify, Form I-9 Employment (Right To Work) Verifications. For most employers, the use of E-Verify is voluntary and can only be used to determine the employment eligibility of new hires. However, as of September 8, 2009, employers with federal contracts or subcontracts that contain the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) E-Verify clause are required to use E-Verify to determine the employment eligibility of employees performing direct, substantial work under federal contracts and all new hires, including employees not working on a federal contract. Federal contractors or subcontractors who have a contract with the (FAR) E-Verify clause also have the option to verify the their entire workforce, including all existing employees. There is no charge for employers to use E-Verify. However, many companies choose to use a designated agent such as PreHire Screening Services to perform the E-Verify verifications for a small fee. To learn more about E-Verify, continue reading this page or click the following link, Request E-Verify Information, to receive additional information and pricing for our E-Verify services. Why Use E-Verify? The Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA) legally mandates that U.S. employers verify the employment eligibility status of newly-hired employees and makes it unlawful for employers to knowingly hire or continue to employ unauthorized workers. Company Risk Screening an employee for immigration status using E-Verify shows due diligence in preventing the ramifications of employing an illegal resident.
